Click on Info Icon on right for more information on the event
The first night 82 came to hear Father Jack, the second night 126, the third...142, and the last evening...195! The word got out, this priest is a very good speaker and his stories touch human hearts. The only complaint...as promised, "I begin speaking," said Fr. Jack "at 730 and end at 8:10PM"...we didn't want him to stop! ...and when he stopped, no one rushed out, they all wanted more...so they came back each night.
Fr. Jack is an author, former Provincial Superior of the Capuchin Franciscans, New York Province, brother of our faithful parishioner, Ronnie Estony and a very inspirational speaker. From 7 to 730, the Church was dimmly lite and Gregorian chant was played softly in the background as the faithful sat in silence for 30 minutes to pray, be still and ponder Lent 2012 and all Father had said either at the Sunday Masses or the night before.
Fr. Tom is deeply grateful to Father Jack for taking time out of his busy schedule to be with us. Said Fr. Tom, "Fr. Jack is a sought after speaker and makes me ever so proud to be a Catholic. We are very grateful to Ronnie, his sister for arranging his visit to Assumption. Fr. Jack touched many hearts. We hate to see the four evenings end."
Because there are 1600 families in our parish, there is a second
Lenten 2012 retreat...see page 5 of the bulletin: When...Sunday, Mar. 18th thru Thursday, March 22nd... with Sr. Joan, Fr. Nick and Fr. Mike.
The photos below are of the final reception in McGrath Hall beneath Church after the 4th and last talk.
