PARISH COUNCIL MEETING Monday, Sept. 24th in Romero Room at Roncalli House
Since my arrival as your 12th Pastor, on Feb. 5th, 1999, the Parish
Council has met 38 times, that is, three times each year, to review what has happened since their last meeting and share plans about what is planned
to happen in the coming months. The Council membership is identified on page two of the bulletin with their respective Ministries/Services. Canon
Law (that is Church Law) requires that each Parish have an active Finance Council, however, because Assumption Parish is centered not only on the Law of the
Church, but the Gospel of Jesus the Christ and the Documents of Vatican II, we delight in having, not only an extraordinary Finance Council but as well,
a wonderful, healthy, responsive Parish Council to better serve the many needs of our Parish.
How does one get on the Parish Council.
Most members are Chairs of their respective working committees that are dedicated to a specialized area of Service to the Parish and beyond. The Committees select a leader, and
the leader, serves on the Council. This is servant leadership at its best, which reflects Jesus getting up from table to wash feet. I am truly
inspired, that our Council Members, like Jesus, are foot washers...they are not about power, control, or popularity but about Jesus. I can't tell you how much
my faith is nourished and strengthened after each meeting. To hear the reports of all they, with the cooperation, support and help of our
parishioners and committee members do for the Lord, inspires me I am so very proud of them, their work, dedication, team spirit and accomplishments.
Let me close thanking and praising the Council for their service leadership, their respective committee members and staff who lead, guide and
serve front and center and behind the scenes. It all comes together because of their being centered on the Lord, His love and compassion. For
the parish and poor we praise and thank our Council.
